Frontiers Preview: Feats!

With less than a week to go, here's a sneak peek at a few of the sixteen feats included in Frontiers of Eberron: Quickstone. These cover a few different subjects that were important to us...
- Druidic Feats. The original Eberron Campaign Setting book included feats that distinguished the different Eldeen druidic sects. While the focus of the Western Frontier is largely the interaction between Breland and Droaam, it borders the Eldeen Reaches to the north and we thought it was a good time to bring these back. These essentially serve as a second subclass, allowing you to add some flavor of the Ashbound, Wardens, Gatekeepers, Greensingers, or Children of Winter to any character with ties to one of these traditions.
- Implement Focus. Wandslingers are a part of the flavor of the Frontier. But traditionally, choice of arcane focus doesn't actually MEAN anything. We wanted to have some narrative weight to that choice... so when you see someone using a rod you'll expect them to try to close, while the staff wielder will keep their distance. And while we always talk about WANDslingers, we wanted to give the orb a little love as well.
- Species Feats. Frontiers includes playable options for a number of species traditionally considered to be monsters—Harpies, Gargoyles, Medusas and more. In order to balance these, we suggest that the versions of these creatures seen in the standard Monster Manual stat block reflect mature creatures with fully developed abilities. Not all gargoyles have wings, and while the medusa's gaze CAN turn you to stone, in a young medusa it's a slower process. Feats allows a character playing one of these species to develop the full abilities over time—or they can just decide that their gargoyle adventurer is made of softer stone!
Imogen Gingell is the primary designer on Frontiers. While it's short notice, if you see this in time, she's doing a Q&A about the mechanics of Frontiers on Discord at 1 PM Pacific Time on September 11th. Thanks for your support!
